My Sunday

This morning Hubby, Munchkin, my Brother, Sister, and her Boyfriend all decided to eat lunch together which is actually a pretty rare thing for us. We live in the north part of town and my brother and sister live on the south side ( I know this is sounding JUST like The Outsiders) about 40 minutes away. That's not much of a distance, but we never seem to find time to hang out. Plus with our new addition it's really hard to drive 40 minutes and plan for that long of a trip plus however much time we plan on spending with them.

The lunch went well, and we introduced them into the world of corn nuggets, which if you do not know is basically fried cream corn and also glorious, crunchy goodness.

After lunch we all headed to my house and while the guys worked on my sister's car she and I decided to try our hand at making some vanilla cupcakes from scratch. I LOVE making cupcakes, but I use a box...I know, I know....but they are so easy to make and the real fun is decorating them when I'm finished. Well, we found a recipe here that looked promising, and we got to baking. The only problem was that I accidentally added a bit more salt than the recipe called for, so I then added more sugar to try and balance it. I tasted the batter and it tasted fine so we baked it just like the recipe called for.

They came out as the most perfect, tasty, delicious....corn muffins. How exactly I have no idea, but they were corn muffins. It literally tasted like I made them from a Jiffy Corn Mix box. We laughed for about 20 minutes because this was our second failed attempt at baking. The first had been a cake for her boyfriend's birthday that ended up with a giant hole in it, icing falling off, and when I went to write " Happy Birthday" I ran out of room and he ended up with a cake that said "Happy Birth". It was horrible.

My sister said it best when she said that the laws of baking do not apply to us in the kitchen. We ruin cakes, and turn cupcakes into corn muffins without any corn mix...yea, we're pretty much rockstars. I can totally tell your jealous.

Hope you guys had an awesome weekend

Munchkin's Pierced Ears and Random Google Findings

I did it people...I got my little munchkin's ears pierced! We went to Claires, and there was actually another mom with a 7 month old baby there so I felt really good about not being the only one. Munchkin was cool with the lady messing with her ears, and marking them. When the lady pierced them she honestly did not cry for more than two minutes. I think she was surprised more than anything. I couldn't do it though, Hubby had to hold her. I was standing behind him shaking and gripping onto the chair for fear of passing out. It went so smoothly that I felt sort of embarrassed over how much of a big deal I made it out to be...oh well. So if you are a momma and worried about getting your little one's ears pierced, don't be. It honestly is not bad, I promise.

Yesterday I also peeked at my google stats to see what people search for that brings them to my site. There were the obvious ones...nickie bubble, life bubble nickie, funny nickie ( thanks for that by the way). Then there were the not so obvious ones:

1. How to be like Edward Cullen
brought three people to my site
At first this one really stumped me, I mean how in the world could someone...much less three someones....find my blog from that? I'm not even remotely like Edward Cullen, I'm from the south, I love sunshine, I interact with people daily, and I don't think if I was a vampire that I would have issues drinking blood from bad people, they totally had it coming. THEN I remembered that THIS POST was titled Just Like Edward Cullen and then it sort of all made sense. Robert Pattinson and I are now practically cast mates in the play of life...feel free to tweet that quote.

 2. Nickie's Bubble Idiot
brought one person to my site
First I was like....rude. Then I googled it just out of curiosity to see if there was some sort of hate site for me or something because, yes...I am that paranoid. What it brought me to was  THIS POST about idiot customer dealings and I was like...awww ok. All is well in the world, though I'm sure there are people who do think I'm an idiot and that's ok, the world needs people with bad taste.

3. What to write on a death wreath
brought one person to my site
I felt really, really horrible about this one. All I could picture were bereaved people trying to find words of sympathy or loss and being led to my crazy post HERE and hearing all about my winter wreath murdering itself. I felt really bad, but Hubby did make me feel a little better pointing out that maybe I made them just a tiny bit happy and possibly brought a smile to their face. I really hope so, if not again...I apologize.

St.Patrick's Day Activities...With Kids.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yea, those words don't really elicit the same feelings they use to before you got pregnant and had kids right? Before it was all about partying, hanging out with friends, and pinching people. Though it still may involve pinching people there is no partying in your future kiddo, but that's ok because that's what this whole journey is all about: Change. When it comes to parenthood, I've learned that change is usually a good thing.

Fun is all about seeing her smile when I walk into the room, listening to her babble and tickling her instead of any of that old crap that use to fill up my time. What I'm saying is: Cheer up mama, you've made it to the big leagues, the show. Instead of dealing with a hangover, and some very bad regrets the next morning might I suggest these things to do if you're pregnant or if you've got kids:

1. Rent a few St. Patrick's Day flicks and cuddle up on the couch. Check out this site for some top Patty's day favorites, the movies are described pretty well so you know what's acceptable for the kiddos and which ones should only be watched after they go to bed. They did forget Disney's Brave and Maid of Honor which I count as an Irish movie. Before you start the marathon though be sure to make some tasty treats centered around the green holiday. Check out this list by Handmade and Craft for a few ideas.

2. If yours are still little and into coloring go find a leprechaun together. Print out this little guy and let your little one color him up, maybe add some glitter if you're feeling really giddy. Then during naptime go hide him somewhere with a few chocolate "gold" pieces with him. When your little one wakes up play a game of hotter or colder to help him or her figure out where the leprechaun is hiding. When its over let them hide it for you to guess.

3. Speaking of those gold coins: hide them in random places all over the house (you can buy them at the dollar tree). Let them know that the kid who collects the most coins gets a full night of no chores, or gets to pick whatever movie everyone watches. If you are without kiddos this year take those same coins and distribute them evenly between you and Hubby. Pick a word that you guys say all the time and ban it for the day. Whenever someone says it they have to give up a coin to the other person, the one with the most coins wins a foot massage or a night of no dishes duty, whatever floats your boat!

4. Make a few non-alcoholic mocktails, grab some props from the dollar store like the cat in the picture is wearing and play some board games together. You guys already know how much I love board games and you can let whichever kid has the most chocolate coins pick the game.

5. Go outside and look for four leaf clovers. Ok odds are you probably aren't going to find any, but you will be getting some awesome bonding time plus some sunshine and fresh air. Encourage your kids to search together and if you're really feeling up to it plan a picnic or just some light snacks on a blanket. When the search is over head home and show them how to draw a clover by drawing three hearts with points touching together and a stem.

6. Visit the library and let them pick out a few St. Patrick's Day themed books, there are actually a lot more than you might think. Swing by Mc.Donalds and pick up some shamrock shakes for everyone or make them yourself. Snuggle together on the couch and take turns reading your books.

This might not be a holiday you fondly remember celebrating ( if you EVER remember celebrating this one) but your kids are sure to remember the memories you're making with them and that's all that matters anyway.

A Day In The Bubble

Oh just some random things I had going on yesterday.

1. Artemis decided that I did not buy a large enough kitty litter pan so she pushed scooped scraped used a wand to magically get all of her litter out of the pan and onto the bathroom floor. Bonus: She waited until she finished her morning business so it was like walking through a horrible poop landmine room to get a towel in the morning.

2. I have planted and then quickly murdered quite a few different varieties of plants in my little planter on my porch. The ones in there now are all shriveled and dead, but with all this rain I've started to notice a few green little seedlings coming up and they actually look really hearty and healthy. I have no idea what they could be, literally anything from flowers to herbs so I'm pretty excited to see what blooms. My luck it will be poison ivy or something.

3.My Gyno. ( fun side note: spell check doesn't accept "gyno" and instead offers to change it to gyro.... like the sandwich HA! made me giggle, not even going to lie on that one) called me the Friday before last to cancel my Monday 18th appointment and asked me to call this week to re-schedule...no biggie. I called them today and the receptionist said that there was no record of anyone calling me or that anyone was even scheduled for that day. I had to explain over and over while convincing her of the whole thing. Do people lie about Gynecologists re-scheduling a lot? Is this some sort of weird trend to get seen sooner?  What reason in the world would I have to make that up? It's not like I'm going to Disneyland here....I'm not happy to see you guys any more than you are to see me, I promise you.

4. Late last night I was laying on the couch watching t.v. and Artemis jumped up on the back of it which coincidentally is right in front of our windows. Junior was outside and must have finally noticed her and felt it was in his duty to protect me. So out of nowhere everything is nice and peaceful and then I have a dog clawing and snarling at my window like a rabid wolf. If that wasn't enough to make me almost pee myself it freaked out Artemis so much that she flew from the couch, but not before sinking her claws into my leg. Awesome. Needless to say the outside dog and the inside cat will not be introduced any time soon.

5. I found this video on Pinterest and I laughed during the whole thing, I love it. I showed it to Hubs and watched it again another two times. It just makes me smile.

Well there it is. Hope you guys are having a great hump day ( tee hee )
